Greencore employs around 1,100 colleagues at its site in Northampton and is currently looking to recruit a number of new staff. We have already started a range of recruitment initiatives locally and have been pleased with the response. We sponsored the Michael Ellis Northampton Jobs Fair in September and had a significant presence at the event, which yielded a good level of interest, and a recent recruitment event that the company held in Corby resulted in 50 new colleagues being hired. In addition, we have been advertising vacancies on banners outside the Northampton site for a number of months, and have run a successful internal referral scheme. We also have an ongoing scheme running with the local Job Centre Plus to offer work experience to local unemployed people, as part of the wider Feeding Britain’s Future initiative.
However, in addition to these local efforts we will also be considering applicants from further afield, as we have done for many years. We are extremely proud of the diversity of our workforce and, as always, will be hiring on a strict equal opportunities basis. When recruitment begins next year for the 250 new colleagues required for our new £30m state of the art production facility, to be opened in 2016, we will be adopting exactly the same approach.
