Last week over 300 children from local primary schools descended on Southwood Common Farm – a short distance from Greencore’s Evercreech site – to learn everything about dairy products and to taste the end result. The aim for the day was to increase the understanding of children as to how their food is produced and to build a stronger link between the farming community and other sectors of society. On the day alongside Greencore there were:
- Hurdlebrook Yoghurt
- Mendip Moments Ice Cream
- Wyke Farm
- Arla Foods
The children were given an opportunity to visit the calves and watch them being fed, see the cows grazing in the field, visit the milking parlour and to learn about wildlife on the farm. The schools were delighted on the success of the day and even more delighted to go away with Greencore product samples!
