Volunteers from the Selby took on the challenge of delivering a days syllabus to Barlby Community Primary School. Volunteers included Geoff Weeks (Site General Manager), Helen Platt (Specifications Manager) and Laura Botham (HR Advisor) took one class aged 7-8 and Matthew Haddock (Operations Manager), Lauren Patterson (Category Buyer) and Kate Rose (Development Manager) took another year 2 class.
Young Enterprise is the UK’s leading enterprise education charity. Together they build connections for young people, business volunteers and educators. The purpose of the day was to inspire students and help them understand how communities work. From government and taxes to social responsibility and making decisions, students discovered how people and local businesses like Greencore can work together to bring local communities to life.
It was great opportunity to give something back to the local education system and allowing primary school children to understand the world around them, giving them a greater understanding of their role in the community.
Big thanks go out to Barlby Community Primary School for allowing the volunteers into their classes for the day, having the opportunity to meet some inspirational young people and building a strong relationship with our local educational providers.
