Local food manufacturer Greencore was delighted to present representatives from Northamptonshire Young Carers Service with a cheque for £1,728 which will be spent on social activities for young carers in Northampton.
Michael Thirlaway, General Manager at Greencore, based on the Moulton Park Industrial Estate said: “It is our pleasure to be able to present this cheque to Northamptonshire Young Carers Service. Our colleagues recognise the incredible work that they do for young people in our community and when we embarked on our fundraising activities including our site Christmas raffle last year and our family fun day earlier this summer, there was a strong desire to support NYCS. As a major employer in Northampton, we have a long-standing tradition of supporting our local community through our fundraising activities and through food donations to a range of organisations and charities.”
Philip Mayes, Young Carers Service Manager said: “Young carers can have limited access to social activities and are at more risk of social isolation. The money donated will be put towards our activity fund and enable around 170 young carers the opportunity to take a break from their caring role, meet other young carers, try something new and have fun. This invaluable support can have a positive impact on young carers physical and emotional wellbeing and improve other areas of their lives such as education and managing their caring role. We are very grateful to have received the donation from Greencore.”
