On Sunday 10th September 2017 colleagues from Greencore Prepared Meals will participate in The Great North Run 2017 to raise donations for Northumbria Blood Bikes, a charity established to deliver essential blood and urgent medical supplies, out of hours, between Hospitals and Healthcare sites across the North East.
The run itself is for a truly wonderful cause, however at the Greencore Consett site the run for this particular charity is all the more meaningful as the charity was suggested by the mother of a former colleague who was involved in a tragic accident. Luke McKenna sadly passed away on 24th December 2015 when he was involved in a fatal motorbike accident just outside the Consett factory on his way to work. Luke was a young man with his whole life in front of him, he is dearly missed by family, friends and colleagues alike. The run and huge effort by everyone involved this year is in memory of Luke.
